Sirs
Is there a way I can get the WebMail stuff to sing out when a new email is received? I sort of miss the old *phee phoo* sound that Forté Agent chucks out when it has downloaded a new POP3 message. I just haven't been able to find any such audio setting in WebMail (Damien Curtain's addon).
best wishes, Robert

It's a web application, so it doesn't have rights of any kind to your local computer.

Theoretically you could setup a sound with the web popup announcing that there is new mail. I haven't looked at it, and probably won't, but it would be a fun addition.

WebMail - Options panel - New mail... includes a tag for a popup. This I have tagged but I never get a popup in Mozilla 1.3b/1.4a or IE5.5. I've rechecked the popup exclusions panel in Mozilla and have added my intranet's IP. Still no popup. All new mail just sits there with no indication, anywhere/anyhow, of the arrivals. Hence my search for an audio announcement;~/

Made a major breakthrough... ditched the external firewall entirely. After reconfiguring the appropriate bits, almost everything started behaving just about as it should've been doing all along. I am most pleased:-))
WebMail now chucks up a JavaScript *New Email* panel. OK there's no noise I grant but at least there's a popup indication. In any case my old faithful Forté Agent is *now* able to POP3 the SME's SecurEmail stuff (thanks Damien Curtain) and so I ought to be back to the usual *Phee Phoo* sound - after tomorrow's re-workings. Reckon this thread's issue is pretty much resolved.

You might also look at IMAPnotify. I think it'll make noise. I use it everywhere my clients rely on Webmail/Twiggi.
