Hi All,
I keep getting an email from root that says:
"fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 3365."
I am getting about 7 or more each day. I have rebooted the server but it makes no difference. This started after I uninstalled the contributed mutipop rpm after I finding out from Steve Noble that it doesn't work with cable modems. Can anyone tell me why I could be getting these messages and is it to do with the uninstall or is this just a coincidence?
Thanks for helping.

Further checks show that these messages are every 35 minutes - email is set to check every 5 minutes at all times.

You get these messages when another fetchmail is started when the first one isn't finished yet. If you would change the interval from 5 minutes to 10, the chance that this would happen would decrease.

Hi del,
Search the forums and you will find that this has come up many, many times.
However, I'm curious as to why Stephen says his multipop contrib does not work with cable modems. I personally prefer to use the multipop contrib from Vincent Filali but cannot see how fetchmail should care if your connection is dial up modem or cable or ADSL or anything. I used to use Vincent's multipop on cable long time ago (don't need to anymore) but still use it with some installations on ADSL with no problems.

Is there an HowTo for the Vincent Filali multipop?
Thanks,
