Title: VPN/PPTP - Subnet Access
Post by: Peter Jansen on March 20, 2003, 09:06:34 PM
Please excuse the newbie question, I'm looking for a place to start digging:

The guy who set up our SME server is no longer with the company and no one else has a clue as to how anything works.  I'm now tasked with getting this issue resolved...

When accessing the SME server from Windows VPN connection, I get a good connection and can access resources on our primary network (10.0.0.x), however I cannot ping or in any way access anything in our QA subnet (10.0.64.x), including my desktop machine.

What part of the SME configuration should I look at to fix it so I can see the QA subnet?

Thanks and best regards,
Peter

Check if 10.0.64.x added with appropriate mask and router address in the "Local Networks" then you connect to http://yourserver/server-manager

how is your network subnetted?
is it class c?
do you know how to get to the administration webpage on the SME server (server manager)?
you need to let the SME server know about the other network
in the server manager, click on local networks
add the network there, the subnet mask, and the gateway to the network

that should do  it
