Title: Configuration help needed
Post by: Ian Hobson on March 27, 2003, 04:07:00 PM
Hi,

I've installed Tomcat and now I need to upload files to the tomcat server areas  /var/tomcat4

I would like to FTP up to this point so that FTP will convert CR/LF for me as required. FTP as admin points me elsewhere. (/home/e-smith/files I think).

How can I set up an ftp acount to have read/write access from inside the firewall to this directory and sub-directories?

I tried to create a soft link, but FTP does not follow them, and I tried to create a hard link, but that is not permitted (not possible?).

Any hints and tips greatfully received.

Ian

You can use WinSCP2 instead of FTP. Similar concept, and it's secure too. Login as root, and you can put files anywhere.

A most excellent solution.

Thanks.
