Title: Setting email account for Virtual domain
Post by: Don Whitley on March 27, 2003, 06:58:23 PM
This may have been ask a thousand times I'm not sure, But my question is how do you setup an email account for one of your virtual domains. When I add a new user it doesn't give me the option to say is the new account going to use email for the primary domain or the virtual domain is there a way to set up and email account for the virtual domain.

Any and all accounts you create affect all virtual domains. Out of the box, SME recognises a user called joe for all defined virtual domains, therefore, emails to joe@primarydomain.com and joe@virtualdomain1.com and joe@virtualdomain2.com all refer to one and the same account.

Look up virtual domain alias for a workaround.

thats fine but one of the problem I have is that when I send email from what I think is the virtual user account it shows up in the email list as user@primary.com and not user@virtual.com

Check your mail client. You should be able to put user@virtualdomain.com as the sender in your e-mail client.
