On one of my server I've been running sme 5.1.2. With RAV antivirus. Been running this forever now and have always been totally satisfied.
A few days ago, I upgraded that box from 5.1.2 to 5.6. RAV failed in this regard:
When trying to connect, I get an SMTP error: 451 message refused...
Uninstall RAV and everything is back to normal.
I built a brand new server, straight 5.6 out of the box. Everything works. Then I install RAV (current version on ravantivirus.com, for esmith and/or redhat, both look exactly the same) and I get that 451 message refused.
Any idea? All howtos about RAV and SME are gone, and 5.6 is a huge step from 5.1.2 so I got a little lost with the mailfront and all that. It does look like RAV is properly chaining itself in, and last maillog does indicate "switching to RAV log" but the RAV log stays very much empty.

Have you tryed downloading Darrell May's RAV conrib?
His site is down at the moment:
Please note the following websites, e-mail and online stores will be offline from
March 26th - April 7, 2003
but after that I would suggest posting a question to his RAV forum here:

RAV is a commercial product. You should direct your RAV related questions to the RAV vendor or ask on a support forum provided by RAV.
From your report it seems that RAV support for 5.6 is faulty.

I can confirm that RAV from Darrell's packaging of RAV (8.4.1 and 8.4.2) works great on SME 5.6 Unsupported release (and on 5.1.2 too). Then his site is available again, ask him for eval copy (30 day's) and if testing successful, just buy a license key and upload it to your server. No reinstallation will be needed.

Hi,
As stated, you can find a SME related Rav forum at www.myezserver.com. A rpm package is available for the SME version, which was made by the author of that site. I can't recomend this product highly enough, everything is integrated into the management panels very well and just works. I have no idea whether you can use this rpm unless you buy the product from that site, however.
Andrew.
