Post by: brad wright on March 28, 2003, 02:20:23 PM
Hi all,

just wondering if anyone here has connectected a Nikko UPS to an SME server with any success?

The UPS in question is a NIKKO SMK 1500A.

It has a serial cable/port but it came wioth no software.. can anyone recommend software for it?

Will APCUPSD worrk with it?? Or will I have to use PWSTATD?   Im at a loss, never even heard of this brand.

Thanks in advance,
Brad

apcupsd will probably NOT work with your ups as it is designed for APC brand UPSes only.

You might be able to use powstatd as it is more universal.

NOTE: If you have updated to 5.6 with update2 you need to be aware that NUTups (another ups deamon) has been installed along with update2.  It is unclear to me (and a lot of others) how NUTups works.  You might need to disable NUTups or remove it completly, I'm not really sure.  Read these posts for more info.
