Title: 5.1.2 vs 5.6
Post by: Arby Edi on April 01, 2003, 08:27:11 PM
Is there a table or side by side comparison explaining the differences/benefits/additions of upgrading from 5.1.2 to 5.6?

http://www.e-smith.org/article.php3&mode=threaded&order=0 is a listing of the new features in 5.6. http://www.e-smith.org/article.php3&mode=threaded&order=0 lists the new features of 5.5 from 5.1.2. http://www.e-smith.org/bugs.php3 also lists the problems that were fixed in each version.

The biggest change in 5.5 seems to be switching to mailfront. 5.6 uses the 2.4 kernel and iptables (instead of 2.2 and ipchains), so it requires a lot of changes to be made to addon packages. Most of them seem to have been converted now, but you should verify for any packages that you absolutely need.
