Title: cannot receive mail from outside, SMTP error
Post by: Renan Nepomuceno on April 03, 2003, 05:41:53 PM
To All,

Good day to all, I am having a problem with may mail. Right now I upgrade my SME 5.5 server to 5.6, after the update I am no longer receiving mail from outside. I can receive and send mail from inside but from outside I cannot, even I try to telnet like this e.g. telnet xxx.xxx.xx.xxx 25 from outside using public ip address I cannot but on my local network I can do that (using of course my private ip). When I try to telnet from outside I always receive like this:

"421 SMTP service not available, closing transmission channel"

without a quote but from inside I don't receive that.
Even I update the smtpmailfront to e-smith-mailfront-1.0.0-01rbl.noarch.rpm  the problem is still same.

Can anyone help me

best regards,
renan

Do you have it set up as a public server/gateway?

Bill,

Yes I setup it up as a public server/gateway but before I upgrade my SME 5.5 server to 5.6 it is working. I just only upgrade it because I want tou use an rbl sites to block spam because I want to use my trendmicro interscan viruswall so that mail can be scanned likewise checking for spam mails in one PC.
I don't like to use spamassasin, tmda and spam bouncer because it is very annoying to all users.

Best regards,
 renan
