Title: Accessing ISP POP account
Post by: Russell J. Cirrincione on June 23, 2000, 09:46:59 PM
How would I go about setting up  E-Smith & messenger/outlook so various people in the office can access their incomming pop accounts? I've set up an e-smith machine already for out going/web server. & need to set up a second system for proxy/pop.
We have a fractional T. Were using wingate on NT server but that needs to be rebooted every few days.

Do I need to open up port 110 somewhere? I don't want to store any messages on our server. I just want everyone to be able to get their e-mail when they open their mail program. So i'd like to avoide creating any accounts on this sytem.

You shouldn't need to do anything; you should just be able to connect directly from machines behind the e-smith gateway to the ISP's mail server.
