Title: problem with pseudonym = domain name
Post by: Jáder Marasca on April 05, 2003, 06:30:14 PM
I have a domain (roan.com.br) and would like to create a pseudonym roan point to my user but when I try to create I got an error:
Error: That name is in use You cannot create a pseudonym with that name.

I´m replacing a Win configuration and there is a e-mail named roan@roan.com.br

Neither the domain/workgroup neither the server is named ROAN .

Why I cannot create this alias? I have to... or all e-mails will return! (I could just enable the errors go to admin - have done this for now - because not know is one of them)
Using SME 5.5u3

Thanks!

Jáder

Now i am going to go out on a limb and say
If your user is called roan then an email address is already pointed to your user.
I.e
Create a user eg darren and his email address is darren@roan.com.br etc...

Thanks by your answer

There is no user named roan. The domain is roan.com.br !
There is no group named roan also.

In fact I can remember nothing named roan in this server!

I discovered my problem (in fact it told me!)
There was a ibay named ROAN!

Just a matter of change ibay name to sisroan and create the ROAN pseudonym!

Sorry to take your time... was a bad day... nothing was working!

Thanks!

Thanks for documenting your discovery - does anyone know why ibays need entries in the /etc/passwd - and why creating pseudonyms with the same names as Ibays should be disallowed?
