Just for your information...

enable DMA may not stable in 2.4.18 kernel.

You don't have to shut it off. Just do not manually turn it on.
If you did : "hdparm -d1 /dev/hda /dev/hdb"
It is a good idea to : "hdparm -d0 /dev/hda /dev/hdb"
 to turn off software DMA enable.

Doesn't this bug affect seagate drives only?

It also only affects motherboards using the Serverworks OSB4 chipset. Please read the whole report before posting crap like this.
