how do i shut it off?
-
You don't have to shut it off. Just do not manually turn it on.
If you did : "hdparm -d1 /dev/hda /dev/hdb"
It is a good idea to : "hdparm -d0 /dev/hda /dev/hdb"
to turn off software DMA enable.

Doesn't this bug affect seagate drives only?
-
It also only affects motherboards using the Serverworks OSB4 chipset. Please read the whole report before posting crap like this.
