Title: weird download files
Post by: del on April 15, 2003, 04:11:13 AM
Hi All,
I am experiencing a weird problem when I try to download the SME updates, when I go to the site (I have tried most of them) the rpms are reconised as audio files! In IE it opens Real Player, Netscape asks me to choose a program and Opera lets me save them but tells me they are Audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin files and that they can be opened with SMEServer-5.6_Update3-0.....  and when I save them the .rpm ext is missed off the end! I also get the same problem if I try to download rpms from the contributed area and  all rpms on other sites! I have downloaded rpms only 2 days ago and had no problems. Anyone got any ideas PLEASE.

Try using an ftp client instead of a web browser to retrieve files via FTP.

With IE, right click on the file name, then select "save as". That will allow you to save the updates.

Yes...you probably installed Realplayer (or plugins) in the meanwhile. This means the rpm extension is asociated with Realplayer. To see the extensions again change the setting in explorer. Sorry, using the dutch version here, so can't guide you exactly how to do that.

Thanks all, I have managed to download them by right clicking etc. I will try to see how they are associated with realplayer.
