Title: Cant Get Windows XP to Logon to Domain
Post by: Gino on May 10, 2003, 07:37:30 PM
When I Try to Logon to the Domain, I get the following error:

Multiple Connections to the server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again...

I have rebooted both the SME Box and Windows XP Box without success..

Did you do what the message said ?

You will need to disconnect any mapped drives etc, and also I suggest you disjoin the domain, and then join again. You will need to reboot the w/s a couple of times while changing these settings.

Follow the HOWTO at
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/dmay/mitel/howto/samba-howto.html
as XP & 2K also requires some registry setting changes

Some tips

Have you configured SME as Domain Controller ?
Have you given your Workgroup a name ?

Make sure that your XP machine is using the same Domain Name as your SME.

Use Network Neighbourhood to browse and try to find your SME (domain name) and then your SME server.

If you can not find these then your SME isn't a Domain Controller.  Try to restart smb

service smb restart

or just reboot

You want the SME to be the MAster Browser.

Hi Don,
How do you check if SME is the Master Browser, I had just about given up on using SME as a Domain Controller.

Del

What I've had to do in the past is do a regedit on the "require sign or seal" and set it to '0'
