Hello,
Until now I have been relying on other people to host my DNS information. I would now like to be able to host my own DNS info. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good piece of software that will run with e-smith.

Geoff,
E-smith is configured to only provide caching DNS services. However it does publish your local net information, such as pc-000025.mycompany.com
E-smith isn't meant to provide these services, and I doubt if it ever will.
Remember the philosophy KISS.
Dan Bernstein has released DNScache which looks promising. You should probably setup a regular redhat server to provide these services.
