Title: Is SME free?
Post by: Allen on May 20, 2003, 09:53:58 PM
Hi everyone,

A long time ago I used e-smith (around version 3 or 4..can't remember :) ). Anyways, I'm looking at it again for some client implementations (I only used it for personal use).

I know it is labeled as an Mitel appliance and the developer version is downloadable. Am I allowed to download and install SME on a client's system, or do I have to go through the official channels and purchase anything?

thanks.

Hi Allen,
As I understand it, SME is free, people only pay for support etc from Mitel. Can't be 100% sure though, there are people installing it for clients, see www.abandonmicrosft.co.uk for example.
Hope this helps,
Del

SME is ,but the free version comes unsupported. You must support it yourself or buy support from someone like
 www.myezeserver.com. or MITEL

thanks for the answers! That's the info I was hoping for. :) If we decide to roll out SME we'll probably do the support ourselves.
