Title: Files= Statement in linux?
Post by: Dan Williams on May 23, 2003, 06:20:29 AM
Hi.
There is a program we are about to install on an IBay on our Mitel E-Smith 5.5 server. The vendor believes it whould work fine, but has not tried it themselves. Typically they install to a Windows Based server. Reviewing their install notes they make reference to setting the FILES=200 and the BUFFERS=30 in config.sys on the Windows PC.
I was curious if there is an equivelent to this in Mitel Linux?
Thanks,
PS the program is written in Visual Foxpro, it is called ESILaw

Hola Dan,

The configuration you are asking about is not something that you would need to set on your Mitel Server, in fact those specific environment settings are for MS Windows/DOS based operating systems.

No worry though, the settings you are being asked to make is common for Foxpro based applications.  However, those setting are only required on the client systems (the workstations running the application), and not the server (your Mitel box).  While the data for your Foxpro application can be stored on your server, the application itself only runs on the workstations.  You should have no trouble with it.

Have fun.
