Title: Can't get MP3 to work.
Post by: s b on June 02, 2003, 01:49:36 PM
Trying to get the MP3 server to work. Doesn't appear to work under 5.5 or 5.6. I set up as per the esmith docs, but putting in //192.168.1.x/musc doesn't give me anything other than an HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden. The multimedia section is all ok, the ibay is enabled for MP3 Jukebox. There is a log entry in the httpd log, "[Sun Jun  1 07:54:58 2003] [error] [client 192.168.1.x] client denied by server configuration: /home/e-smith/files/ibays/music/html".

I have seen references to Netjuke, but I prefer to have an RPM, so I can remove it later if I want to. I have not seen a Netjuke RPM yet.

Any thoughts?

If I had to guess, it sounds like your ibay permissions are incorrect, I'd check that first - do you have it set to LAN, Internet, Password?  Not sure which one, but check that first in the server-manager.

As far as Netjuke -- I can't recommend it enough after using the MP3 RPM, Andromeda, and Netjuke.

Honestly, other than setting up the database, which the netjuke installation can handle if I remember correctly, just unzip the file to an ibay, go to the setup page, follow the instructions for saving and replacing the preference file, and everything else is automated other than uploading your music.

And if you want to remove it later, just delete the ibay or the directory, remove the mySQL database, and you're set.

The Netjuke mailing list is very helpful, and some of the changes coming in 118 are very exciting.

Well, that would sound like you gave bogus info on the database.  What settings did you use?

Got it going now thanks!
Had to (chmod -R 777) on the netjuke directory, looks a good program but do you have to keep all your mp3's in the netjuke folder, as i have 40gb of music to move if that's the case.
