Title: Newbee - Problem with network card - Netgear FA311
Post by: Dave on June 04, 2003, 02:16:06 PM
I have SME Server v 5.5

I have the local network working using RTL 8139 but my second card for internet is Netgear FA-311

I need help on where to obtain and then of course, how to install the required driver.

I have attempted to download the drivers but which one and then how do I get it from the floppy into the correct directory???

The only drivers I have found are for Redhat 6.0 -> 7.0

by reading the instructions I think the correct directory to copy the driver to is, /lib/modules/2.2.19-7.08/net

Cheers

Dave

Truthfully I have found it best to use NICs from the supported list rather than installing unsupported cards.  Just pickup another RTL 8139 card or a intel, 3com ect and be off to the races

Thanks for that, I have taken your advice and am replacing the Netgear with another RTL 8139

Thanks Jochen

I've already replaced the card but I'll download it anyway, just in case one of these old NICS packs a sad one day :~)

Cheers
