Title: SME for FTP server
Post by: benja on June 06, 2003, 01:52:12 AM
Hi all,

I need to build a FTP server to serve 10 to 20 customer. Each of them need a private FTP area in R/W mode to send me file or read them. I would like to know if SME is a good choice to do this (in term of security, simplicity and so on ...). I have to be able to manage ftp account quickly and simply without entering command line.

Another issue is my ADSL connection. I can only get a dynamic IP (new IP every 12 hours :-) so I plan to use Dynamic DNS (like dyndns.org). The line is down during five second but i think that the DNS table could take more time to be updated. Should i use another DYN DNS service (not free) more efficient or can i find a free FTP client able to resume the connection even if the FTP server is not joinable several minutes ?

Thanks,

Works fine and is easy to configure.
I also don't know much of linux and it works fine for me.
