Title: Problems with setting up Webmail
Post by: Dave on June 06, 2003, 04:16:22 PM
I now have the site up and running, but am unable to get the webmail to access my pop3 account at my ISP.

User accounts all set-up and emailing within the domain is fine and also send to external address's. But I do not seem to have the thing setup for retrieval.

Any help appreciated on this as I have been trying now for hours and getting nowhere :~)

Cheers

Dave

Well, I am just not looking in the right place.

I cannot find where the manual explains how to retrieve the mail from my ISP's server.

I am currently using v5.5
My ISP mail is a pop3 account and I have a cable modem.
of course I have a login id and password.

But I need to put my "girl eyes" in, as my wife says, because I just cannot get the thing to work and cannot find where to input this information.

Everything was self explanatory in setting the server up. It's just this one thing has me stumped. Well I say stumped, at this stage :~)

Cheers

http://www.elhoj.dk/new/index.htm?frame=http%3A//www.elhoj.dk/howto.htm

explains howto install fetchmail to retrieve mail from multiple pop accounts.

This is how I bring back the families e-mail from our isp to their individual accounts at home. I'm sure I first installed under e-smith 4.1.2 and have gone through most iterations and am now running 5.6u4 (probably started with an earlier fetchmail as well).

Thanks for that Trevor.

I have also been speaking with the person who put me onto SME and what I am trying to do is to get my email that comes into my domain.

Currently my domain email gets redirected to my personal email account with my ISP and so I now just need to get this redirected to my permanent IP straight into SME.

This will now bring up problems of bouncing email which is objectionable and stopping it from getting to the kids.

Time for another thread, after I have read the manual, of course :~)

Cheers
