Title: harddisk
Post by: Henk on June 09, 2003, 09:39:48 PM
SME Server 5.5 is installed on a ATHLON 900 with 768 SD-ram and a Maxtor 40 GB HD and gives no problems.
I installed a second harddisk (Maxtor 80 GB with 8 MB cache (hdc1) to use for ftp instead of another Maxtor 40 GB HD with 2 mb cache.
Copying files to this new harddisk enters constently transferprobloms from a network pc to the server as well as from the first HD in SME server to the second disk. Partion is Primary ext2. I also installed the latest updates. This didn't work.
Does This server support HD's larger than 40 GB and if so what can I do to solve this problem.

I have installed just 1 harddisk but it is 200Gb.
No problem there.
Good IDE support of not to old mainboards is a problem on SME, that is if you do not want to run on 33Mb/s but want to use full speed (100 or 133).
Do jou have them on the same flatcable?

Hai Mike,

Many thanks for your reaction.
I use a Soltek SL-75KAV 100MHz motherboard and no I don't have them on the same flatcable. Both disks are master on seperated IDE ports. CDRom player is Slave on IDE 2.

Henk.
