Title: Adaptec 7892 adapter
Post by: Geoff on June 11, 2003, 09:33:44 AM
I have an IBM x220 eServer which has an Adaptec 7892 SCSI controller and two 36Gb SCSI HDD.

The Mitel5.6 CDD boots up, loads the aic-7XXX driver, and sits there with:

"Running anaconda - please wait ......"

Any suggestions. please?

The AIC7892 chip is the basis for most of the Adaptec U160 cards (as well as being used embedded).

Drivers (rpm) for RH7.3 can be found at:
http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/ASC-29160&filekey=aic7xxx-6.2.10-rh73.i686.rpm

Check on the experienced forum for info on how to get the system to use the driver on install.

I had SME5.0 installed in a 1U with an onboard 7892 and didn't need any special drivers. Complete autodetection and installation. Sounds more like the hard drives haven't been formatted by the Adaptec yet.
