Title: VPN PPTP how to improve performance
Post by: Alejandro Lengua on June 11, 2003, 06:52:52 PM
I am running a PPTP VPN using an amd 400 mhz k6-2 with 192mb
of RAM. But I get packets lost and poor performance (speed).

Is there a way to improve it? What factors can help?
- Bandwidth?
- CPU power
- RAM?
- Lowering encryption level?

The NICs are 100Mbps and the service used are both dsl, but from
different providers, however without the VPN the performance is acceptable.

How many simultaneous connections are the maximum for this hardware?

Are you running SME 5.6 because there are known problems with it in combination with VPN. I'd search te forum first.
