Title: pop accounts
Post by: Thomas on June 14, 2003, 12:20:52 AM
Hello,

I have several pop accounts on normal pop servers, and my SME server is my gateway. When I try connecting to the pop servers, my mail program says  it's unreachable. Is the port available or is it blocked by a firewall ?

Thanks for helping,

Thom

I've got the exact same problem..

Here's my setup:

ADSL on 192.168.1.1

SME external nic 192.168.1.100 with 192.168.1.1 as gateway

SME internal nic 192.168.57.1

User nic 192.168.57.100 with 192.168.57.100 as gateway.

User can surf the web without a hitch, but hen he tries to access his pop accounts on a thirdparty server, Outlook cannot connect.

Why?

I really hope someone can help, as this is driving me nuts.

Regards
Thomas

Of course I mean User nic with 192.168.57.1 as gateway, not 192.168.57.100 as gateway... Dang typing skills.. :o)

Hi,

I have a similar problem.  I have a cable modem connected to my SME Internet gateway.  Pop mail works fine with this setup.  However I also have a Netgear cable router / 4 port switch.  As soon as I connect it to the cable modem and connect my SME box into the switch Pop mail only works coming in.  Eg I can recive mail but I can't send.  I have played with Ports in the setup of the Cable router but haven't been able to get it to work.

Regards

Ron
