What modems are comptable with SME.
I was trying to find a compabilty list witch I swear i saw before but i cant find it does any one know What modems are compatable?
-
Almost all external modems are compatible. I tend to use US Robotics as they are hassle free plug and play. Some internal modems will work but you may have some trouble in configuring them. I would stick to a well known external for ease of use and reliability. Internals are a bad idea.

Why are internals a bad idea..?

They are all ISDN Terminal Adapters or codecs, not modems. Now does John really mean a modem (to work on an analogue line) or a TA/codec for ISDN?
Cheers
Dave.

I use a GVC internal modem. It works flawlessly.
Avoid win modems, and you should be ok.

I am setting up a 6.0 beta server with a US Robotics external Sportster modem Model 0781. I can seem to get it to work. I have had no problems in the past. I don't know if the modem is bad or my switch settings are wrong. I have experimented with the switchs to no avail. I would appreciate anyone pointing me in the right direction. I have left the command strings at default in the manager.

The "right direction" is in the release notes for the 6.0beta release:
*** NOTE: This is a developer preview.
*** Do not install this release on production servers.
*** Please report all feedback to smebugs@mitel.com
*** (and only there, please)

Charlie:
This is purely a development server. I am only setting it up for testing only.

Sure. Hopefully your reason for testing is to find problems and report them to smebugs@mitel.com. That is the sole reason for the release.

That is my intent. My primary interest is internet access speed in rural areas with only dialup. I am doing some volunteer work for a rural fire department.

RequestedDeletion,
Have you ever used or tried the following internal modem?
http://www.aopen.com/products/modem/fm56-px.htm
This is an PnP Modem, I wanted to configure an SME to use dial-up to connect to the ISP, however I do not know what port to tell sme to use?
Any assistance greatly appreciated.
