I have three SME Servers, all with 5.6 update 4. They've worked like a charm except one thing: It takes about 20 minutes to boot. If I restart them for whatever reason, it goes through its startup process and gets to the login, but the disk is continually working. Twenty minutes later it's ready.
They are all Pentium IIIs with 128 MB RAM and 10 Gig Hard Drives. I am only using them for internet access and filtering with Squid and SquidGuard. After they boot they work great, but the boots are way long.
Any help would be fabulous!

Anything in the logs??
Are you short on diskspace??
Any other contribs installed ie a/v software that automatically scans on boot??
Can you login once booted eventhough the disk is still trashing - if so run a ps -eax and look for processes that are working hard.

I found out that Squid with SquidGuard is causing the slow boots. I re-installed SquidGuard and that fixed the problem, then I changed the default automatic blacklist and that caused the slow boots. I think. Has anyone else experienced this with squidGuard?
