I'm using e-smith-4.0b8.
Does e-smith provide an imap server?
Is it setup by default?
If not, how does an e-smith administrator set it up?
-
btw, from the 'e-smith-manager: other email settings frame I set POP and IMAP server access to PUBLIC.

i have 4b7 so i'm assuming 4b8 is almost the same as mine.
mine has imap installed and i certainly didn't do anything special to get it. so yes it's installed (as is pop). yes it will work for you, and as usual goto http://192.168.*.*/e-smith-manager, or whatever your e-box IP is, and configure your accounts.

thanks for sharing your experience... here's mine...
1) I did a fresh install of 4.0b8... created two users.
2) From a w98 box using Outlook Express I created a new user/identity with a pop3 mailbox... everything works fine... (I actually received your email via the e-smith pop3 email account).
3) From a w98 box using Outlook Express I created a new user/identity (test1@domain.com) with a imap mailbox... as the new mail account was being created I got the following message...
There are not any folders to show for this account. Would you like to view a list of available folders now?
I clicked 'yes'... The 'Downloading folders' dialog appeared followed by this error message...
The connection to the server has failed.
Configuration:
Account: 192.168.0.11
Server: 192.168.0.11
User name: test1
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 143
Secure(SSL): 0
Code: 800ccc0e
4) I'm stumped.

Yes.

It should be, but due to an error it isn't. Please install
e-smith-wu-imap-0.1-5.noarch.rpm from http://www.nlc.net.au/e-smith/. That should fix your problem.
