Dear all,
I encounter a problem after migrating SME 5.6 with Update4 to SME 6.0 Beta2. The setting of FTP setting has reset to "No Access" after the migration is done. Then I try to set to "Allow access only from local networks" and then save. However, I cannot ftp the server and then I re-check the setting. It return to "No Access".
Does anyone have an idea on it? Or it is a bug of the Beta2?

Hi,
it's a bug. An update (e-smith-base-4.13.20-10.noarch.rpm) can you get on a mirror.
On my upgrade to the Beta there is a second bug (or a mistake on my installation) on '/etc/proftp.conf'. There is a line 'ScoreboardFile /var/run/proftpd/scoreboard' that should not be there. If I remark (#) this line the ftp is running. But I think my fix would not be the best, maybe I should it fix in a template (how did it ?).
Regards. Ralf

If this bug was ONLY reported to the email address I would have never found the answer to my problem.
THANK YOU greatly for misposting, some of us appreciate it.

Not so. If you had reported your problem to the given address, you would have found the answer.
Please report any problem you encounter with beta releases to smebugs@mitel.com. This helps us perfect the release, and your testing and bug reports motivate us to continue with public releases.

Hello all,
Well I had the very same error on a SME 5.6U5.... that is I thought it was a U5. It fell short one tiny little update called 'proftpd-1.2.8p-es1' . I updated it and all is well now.
So check if your SME 5.6 has e-smith-proftpd-1.8.0-02 and proftpd-1.2.8p-es1 or in case of SME 6.0B3 if the latest updated packages have been updated. It worked for me, maybe its a similar problem on SME 6.0B3?
Usefull commands for checking which version you've got:
rpm -q e-smith-proftpd
rpm -q proftpd
Many thanks to Mark Knox at SME-bugs for helping me out, its much appreciated.
With kind regards,
Jan

So I'm still at a loss....
I am getting the same problem as the original post, where my ftp access keeps going back to NO Access. but I can't find a solution in any of the posts.
I saw the second post regarding the e-smith-base update but I don't see it anywhere on the mirrors my version is e-smith-base-4.13.20-09
and the latest I saw was e-smith-base-4.12.5-03.noarch.rpm. and the last post about the proftp updates I have completely different packages.
I am running 6.0 beta 2. Hope you guys can help.
thanx
John

Well, first, you're using an old beta; beta3 is current. Second, there are more recent updates yet than that; see
ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/e-smith/dev/6.0dev/updates/6.0beta3/RPMS
or the equivalent directory on your favorite mirror. Install the latest version and try again.

Downloading the latest beta from any of the mirrors did not work for me. (2 mirrors) It downloaded fine but would not boot. so I thought I went back to the beta 2. I will try to download the new copy of the beta again. I will also look for updates in the mean time.
thanx
