Title: Backup
Post by: bron on July 07, 2003, 07:07:04 AM
Hi,

I'm trying to figure out backup to CDRW for my server.  I want to setup so it backs up partial backups (excluding a couple of very large directories who's content doesn't change very often).

I'm also curious as to how, in linux, I can manually copy data over onto CDRW as well.  Can anyone help or point me to a document that can help?

Thanks in advance

See this post: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=16782.msg64977#msg64977.

Haydn's add-on is *terrific*. The selectable i-bay or path you are looking for is built-in. It is installed on a 5.5 machine and works a-ok. It was also working under 512 without problems.

His project site for details is: http://cd-utils.sourceforge.net

For CD-RW you may wish to note the tip I added to enable an "erase before burn", although it appears his site has been updated and all that may be included.

I have tried following the instructions on http://cd-utils.sourceforge.net/e-smith-info.html and have downloaded the 2 rpms and a tar.gz file from ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/.

But I can't install the tar file I get an error everytime saying "This does not look like a tar archive" !!!

I have tried another file from ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/ but that didnt help.

How come ???
