Hi, I am wondering if there is an expected release date for the V6 release? I know Beta 2 is out, so perhaps it will be within another month or so. Does any one know what the date will be?
Thank you.

Andrew,
Mitel does not release dates for anything, ever, probably never has and probably never will, if you do a search there are lots of these types of questions for release dates for 5, 5.1, 5.5 and 5.6 so obviously they wont release dates for 6.
Just gotta sit tight and wait like the rest of us unfortunatly :-)

Well, this release date game is very disappointed, considering that the commercial version of 6.0 has already been out for a few weeks; so the only logical explanation for such long delays is that they are doing them on purpose, just to avoid a conflict with their business interests.
Do you really think they care enough about the Open Source Community? Nah!
Only to get what they can, and give back whenever it's convenient for them.
At least that's my conclusion; then again, you may have yours; I'm just putting the facts on top of the table, so nobody gets fooled by their "Developer's Website".

What a narrowminded view! Mitel release their products to the community when they see fit because it is thier product, if you do not like that BUY IT! I think Mitel have been more than generous in the way they release thier products, I mean can you find a free windows development OS available anywhere, NO! Yes there are heaps of other OS's you can use so instead of bitching about thier release dates, BUY IT or find something different!

Hi
Does anybody know how much it costs to buy?
I'd go to their site and take a look but I can't access it (and a few others) due to some wierd DNS resolving issue I have that I cannot fix.

Well I dont share your views either disappointed.
If the Open source community wasnt cared for, then Im not sure if this site would exist!!
Being fooled? Who is exactly being fooled and in what way?
I would say that you are just overreacting.
I am looking forward to seeing Ver6 , just like many others but lets not pressure Mittel!
In releasing a new version, a company will of course have the priority of paying customers. Once this has setteld down, then Im sure that the community will get the new version!

You will have to contact a partner or reseller.

Disappointed, I don't see any facts in your posting. All I see is a bunch of whining and assumptions that don't line up with Mitel's behaviour. Mitel could have acquired E-Smith and made nothing available for free, but they haven't. What they have done is release stable software in a responsible manner for free. There is nothing reprehensible for that.
I have been using E-smith since version 4.1 and have installed it for clients. Even through the acquisition, there wasn't a gap in software releases. Waiting a few more days or weeks shouldn't be that bad of an ordeal.

Please don't feed the trolls.

what about a Countdown-screen on top of the homepage ?
;-)
9 days to V6
8 days to V6
...
1 days to V6
where are the trolls ? ;-)

Well, you guys may have to wait forever, and some of you may have to eat their previous words.
Someone at Mitel told me today that they may never release a final version 6 at the developers site; and if they do, will be a trimmed down version of it, with no file sharing, no web server, no email, no webmail, just to function as a router.
I sincerely hope that this is not true, but only time will define what's going to happen.
Then we can finally discuss Mitel's interest in the community.

Regardless of Mitel's motives and reasoning for the way things are done. They have acquired and encouraged development of a fine mature product. If it never went past version 5.6, I would continue to use 5.6 until the next best thing comes along. A freebee is just that. I am darn certain that they are learning from us as much as their own development staff and I see nothing to indicate there will be no release of version 6. I suspect that as long as we 'proof' their work and don't compromise their profit margin in their commercial end; they will maintain the status quo.

Yes, they have continued to develop a really great product!
But still, it would be a pity if no stable developer releases were given.
Anyway, I will download the beta 3 and test it and see how it goes. It sounds good!
Cheers,
