Title: Passive port range for ftpd?
Post by: Rach on July 23, 2003, 02:29:30 AM
Hi!

I'm considering installing SME Server on my server, but I provide hosting to my friends and I will need to give them FTP access.

However I am behind a linksys router (sorry I don't wanta use SME as a gateway as the linksys has been very reliable). When I had FreeBSD4.7 on it I configed ProFTPd to used an outside host name and a custom passive port range by the developers.

I installed SME Server on Vmware to play with it, and I noticed there is no such range I can add. Also, I searched this forum and there were lots of dead threads with no answers.

Can I enable a host masquerading for the ftpd server? Can I select a range of ports? I know it's not in the web interface, but is it possible to hack otherwise?

Tanks!

Forget it, I'm back with FreeBSD.
