Title: updating 5.1.2
Post by: dave on July 23, 2003, 06:48:18 PM
Hello,

I am updating my 5.1.2 box.  I downloaded the 5.6u4 update and applied the rpm's but there were far to many dependency errors.  So I thought that I would update to 5.5.  Again I downloaded the update and applied the rpm's but this time i received an this message:
   error: samba-2.2.7-3.7.2es2.i386.rpm cannot be installed

Please help me out.  I thought the updates were cummulative but it seems like I need to have the lates version of the previous update before I can install the latest update.

Thanks

5.6u4 update is for SME ver. 5.6 not ver. 5.1.

Is it update or upgrade you wan't to do ?

Download the .ISO, make the install CD, do an upgrade install, THEN apply the updates.

Is it possible to perform such an update (5.1.2 to 5.6) without CDROM access?  I've a down mail server and am away on vacation.  I see that I can't update from 5.1.2 packages without a lot of dependency resolution, but with the version of Horde/IMP included in 5.1.2, I don't see an easy way to keep moving with 5.1.2.

Thanks,

Tim
