Title: ipsec over dialup
Post by: brian kirk on July 28, 2003, 12:36:32 PM
Having trouble getting this to work. I have a static ip and dialup connection on server and static ip & router on remote.
For external gateway ip on the dialup server do I use its static internet ip or try and discover the isp's gateway.
Regards
Brian

Use ifconfig to find the SME server's external IP.   I'm not sure if having a router in front of the SME box on the remote side is a supported configuration; typically the SME boxes ARE the gateway/routers.  Perhaps you can put the SME box in a DMZ using the router's setup, or find out exactly which ports you'll need to forward.  I'm not sure what values you'd need to enter in the IPSec setup!
