Title: Upgrade from 3.1 to 4.0

Can I upgrade from 3.1 to 4.0 or do I have to do a reinstall?

When I run the CD it only offers to do a complete reinstall.

Can I use rpm to upgrade? If so, how?

You can upgrade  from 3.1 to 4.0 by typing "upgrade" instead of "accept" at the prompt. Please note however that e-smith has not tested this enough to offer it as a supported upgrade path. Even though I have not seen a single problem with the "upgrade" path, YMMV. And of course you will do a backup first :-)
