Title: Configuring Modem after dedicated server install
Post by: b1tch-x on July 19, 2000, 03:49:36 AM
I've set up E-S&G as a dedicated server with a cable modem and it works fine, but now i've tried to add a USR 56K external modem on COM1 (ttyS0).  Both serial ports are shown on boot-up, but when I run minicom (as root) i cannot communicate with the modem on COM1.  Is there anything done upon installation of a dedicated server that would disable the COM ports so that I wouldn't be able to communicate with the modem?  It doesnt make sense that it does, but I was just wondering if there was any issues regarding this.  THanx for any help.

No, nothing should interfere with normal COMport behaviour. I'd
suggest that you check using "setserial" that you have the correct
IRQ set up for the modem.
