Title: Connecting to shares
Post by: Howard on August 19, 2003, 09:47:40 PM
With the great help from people on this forum, I now have SME fully installed and working with my dynamic DNS service... Thanks

One question I have is - how do I connect to I-Bays from my windows machine.. ?

I have put my windows box in the same workgroup and everything works fine - apart from accessing the i-bays.. I can't see the SME box listed in Network Neighbourhood and using \192.168.25.1 from the run command brings back no results..

Any help appreciated

Hi Howard,
Have you tried going to My Network Places, View workgroup computers ?
You should see all computers in the workgroup.
If you want to see the computers from My Network places you should go to My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, View Tab and the first option is Automatically search for network folders and printers check this option.
I  hope this helps,
Del

I've had some trouble with the WinXP personal firewall getting in the way of seeing my other workstations on the network.  You may need to disable it in the Network properties of your NIC.
