Title: is the a contrib for e-smith that works somewhat like WEBppl
Post by: Arjay on August 28, 2003, 11:01:14 PM
my friend took me a tour to their webserver and showed my to his great tool which is called WEBppliance. then when i got home, i searched in google to see where he got that program but to my surprice that it cost so much. im just a dsl user that is giving free website space for my friends and i cant afford to buy such kind of expensive tool. so im looking for a free "clone" of WEBppliance so somehow my webserver in my sme 5.6 will look like profesional-like. and also i need that feature of WEBppliance of limiting their bandwidth consumtion to avoid them to make me a download server.

any advices is greatly appreciated :)

You shouldn't confuse "slick" with professional. :-) In my opinion, the server-manager is actually quite nice and if you want an even more pro look, just use putty (or ssh):

login as: root

Welcome to the Mitel Networks SME Server.
[root@gorgon root]#

Nothing beats the CLI. :-)

Arjay,

Yes SME can be used like an appliance.  There are many contributions that will allow you to add features too, including the bandwith limiting feature you want.
