I tried to add a second hard drive, but was unable to do so. I edited /etc/fstab with pico to do this. Now i cannot boot the 1st hard drive by itself. It comes up with a superblock eroor. when i Pico the etc/fstab file i cannot save the resultant edit as the fille is read only. Basically i woul;d like to boot the 1st drive up and then back the drive up and restore it to the 2nd disk after installing a new verion of esmith. HELP

contribs.org recently had an article about adding a second harddisk.

have you read:
http://www.e-smith.org/bboard//read.php?f=1&i=31036&t=31036
the howto in contribs RequestedDeletion is:
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/mblotwijk/HowToGuides/AddExtraHardDisk.htm
WARNING:
the author/s have a typo error on that howto. (im not sure if they have updated it yet)
read this one so that you wont have my problem before:
http://www.e-smith.org/bboard//read.php?f=1&i=31292&t=31036
i have successfully mounted my 2nd drive after that.
Goodluck!

how do i remove or edit the etc/fstab without getting error read only
-
try to copy all the contents of your /etc/fstab and then delete the file and then create a new one then paste the copied content.
Warning:
1.) i havent tried this yet.
2.) dont copy the /etc/fstab into a windows box and then edit it coz when youll put it back to your sme box, most likely your encounter a error or two.. do everything in your sme box!
3.) back your files up!
