Title: Hard Disk Full or Not?
Post by: Andreas Sierek on September 15, 2003, 05:09:12 PM
Hi,

I cannot create new files on the hard disk. If I try, I get a message like "No space left on device". But the df command tells me that only 69% of the space of the device mouted on / is used and nearly 500,000 1k-blocks are available. How to explain that contradiction?

Sounds like a user quota issue.

There are no disk space quotas configured. Or better, I am not aware of any.

Furthermore, the problem seems to be universal. The CGI scripts of the server manager cannot create temporary files. Shell commands run by the root user cannot build temporary files. Any user cannot copy files to an i-bay.
