I just performed a fresh install of SME 5.6 onto a new hard drive. I originally had it on another hard drive, did a back up of the old one and a restore on the new one. It all works great except for one thing. When I use IMP and try to send a message, I get the error "There was an error sending your message." That's all it says. When I use Pine, it says "The SMTP server went away!". When I do "service qmail status" it says "/service/qmail: up (pid 1106) 381 seconds, normally down." I haven't been getting emails sent to me.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance.

I figured out the problem, half of it anyway. The error while sending mail was caused by not having the email antivirus installed, and it was set up to do that on the old hard drive, so it copied the config database and was set to filter the mail. Now, I can send mail, but cannot receive ANY.
Now what's the problem? :-( Thanks in advance.

Now, all of my mail folders have disappeared.
I checked the log through the server manager and it said "Uh-oh: home directory is writable." I Google'd it, and found that you should "chmod g-w ~user". Then I got mail. Another place I found said to "chmod 0755 ~user". Before I tried any of these steps, the /home/e-smith/files/users/(username) directories were drwxrwxrwx (couldn't receive mail). Then after the "g-w" they were drwxr-xrwx. Then I did the 0755 ~user and now my mail folders have disappeared. When I go to webmail, I see INBOX and nothing in it. It did have 15 messages. What should I do? :-(
Thanks in advance.
