Title: HELP! - Redirecting hostname to internal web server
Post by: Keith Jackson on September 23, 2003, 01:53:10 AM
I have SME 6b3 as my internet gateway and server.

I am a .NET programmer and I want to update my website to ASP.NET. With this in mind I am attempting to redirect my primary and virtual domains www host to my internal IIS 6 web server. This does not appear to be working. In fact it appears to do absolutely nothing.

I was originally running e-smith 4.1 and then switched to a Windows 2000 web server to allow me to publish .NET services, but it seriously sucked!! Windows servers make seriously bad web gateways.

Can anyone advise me how, if possible, I configure a host to point at an alternative internal web server. I'm sure I'm either doing it completely wrong or, less likely, I've found a bug, but I can't be sure as I've never used another version with this feature.

I need the host to redirect both on the internal LAN and through the Internet. All the hosts (I have 3 www hosts on 1 primary and 2 virtual domains) share the same external IP on the SME server, and I'm using hostname identification to redirect to the correct IIS site.

ProxyPass does that you need, but I am not sure if it supports SME ver. 6 beta.
It works on latest released versions. (5.x)
