Title: can not attach files to eamil
Post by: bob on September 24, 2003, 10:49:54 PM
I have a system running e-smith 5.6U5, and can not send attachments through Yahoo web mail. I can send a regular mail through my yahoo account, but when I try to send an attachment, it stalls. The e-smith box is set up as aserver/gateway through a ppoe dsl account.

Any thoughts

Bob

Bob, forgive my lack of experience with Yahoo webmail, but how large is this file?

HTTP uploads for a webmail system are actually slower due to the inefficiencies (spelling?) of POST/GET uploading as compared to "traditional" methods.

Additionally, often times the browser will not indicate an accurate upload progress bar.  If your file is rather large it may/would appear that the upload has "stalled" when actually it has not.

Hope this helps,
Nathan

Thanks for the reply. The file is a rather large PDF file, and it did appear to stall. I quickly set up a real email account with my hosting servise, and managed to transfer the file, and it still took a while, and even timed out once. I have also found I am having some other issues with this server (self inflicted)
