Title: External modem
Post by: Manuel Lazo on October 02, 2003, 03:02:41 AM
Sorry if this is not the right place to ask!! I have a SME 5.6 u5 Server installed with Hylafax, Right now I'm using a motorola external modem via serial port. I got some problems because once in a while, there are some faxes that can not negotiate, so the fax can not get trough!! I wanna change my modem, but is a little problematic to find today a good modem (with better fax capabilities) that is compatible with Linux, so my question is can someone recommend me a good modem?? and another question, are any extern modem that uses serial port is compatible with linux?? or USB are compatible too?? PCI is out of the question (most of them if not all are winmodems, and the only way to reset them, is to reset the PC).

I'll will search on hylafax.org to get an answer too, but if someone here could help me, that will be great!!

Thanks!!
