Title: update dyndns.org
Post by: Mike on October 05, 2003, 03:34:13 PM
In my log file I am seeing this:
Oct  5 04:22:19 server dyndns.org: mydomain.com does not exist on the dyndns.org system.

My account name is mydomain
Is this log saying the server is passing mydomain.com as the user???
If not what is this log saying?
If so we need to hard code it in the //sbin/e-smith/dynamic-dns/dyndns.org file?

for me this look like your server is commiting "mydomain.com" as username.
in the server-console (login as admin) aou can set the D-DNS options.
there you give your dyndns.org-loginname as name and your dyndns,org-password as password.
a requisite for that is that you have created a dyndns-account...

cheers klaus

Thanks Klaus...I should have said I have already checked that. The account name set up is 'mydomain' and password is 'password'. Some how e-smith is tacking on the '.com' on it's own????????????

Sounds like you are using the custom service. You have to change the account type to custom in the update script. There's a few posts about it on the forum.

Hi,

No, no .....
The update-dns script use the "primary" domain from your sme box to update dnsdns.org.........

So if you configure your server (via the admin login) with the domain mydomain.com, you get this error.

Configure your server with your dnydns domain (e.g. smetest.dyndns.org) and it works.

Best
Peter
