If not appropriate here where is a good place to discuss tings about the SME Server not problem related. Like I find a good piece of software that works really well and want to let others know about it.

Assuming that the software is somehow SME-related, I'd think this would be a perfectly appropriate place to discuss it.

Also, you could contribute at contribs.org. It is a cool place-- Dan can let you know :)
