Title: sme as a snmp client
Post by: Peter on October 30, 2003, 02:26:54 PM
Hi

Has anyone got e-smith to act as an snmp client, i.e. able to be polled by an snmp management tool?

I have had a look through the archives and there is a tantilising mention of using sysmon to do this locally can these stats then  be accesable from elsewhere?

Cheers

Peter.

SME comes with ucd-snmp installed, so the tools are there. You'll probably have to open port 161 and modify /etc/snmpd.conf (see man snmpd), but haven't tried it myself. I would be very interested in your notes once you get it running.

Having had a look at this -

http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net/

and then compared it to my system it would appear that certain functions are missing, i.e all of them.

Digging deeper now....
