Title: Samba printing... why why why ?
Post by: Guiller on November 24, 2003, 05:52:40 AM
Well, I thought that using a linux box with samba and a printer attached to it, worked as a transparent print server for win machines.
I didn't had problems at all using usual printers, but...
when I try to print a page bigger than A3 in my designjet100 that is usb connected to a e-smith 6b3 (with 5.6 is also the same) it starts but suddenly stops without explanation some times before, others after, but  always runs erratically and not capable of printing the page.
With A3,A4, and smaller, works fine and all other printers work fine as the driver is controlled by a windows machine, so, why, why,....why ???
Does samba have a bug/limitation on spool management?;
there are no memory nor disk problems in sme server and windows machines, so does samba acts really as a transparent server ?
many people seems to have problem printing whith samba that was not my case... until now  ....why, why, why ? any ideas, solutions, exorcism
Thanks in advance
