Title: Help getting myDVDs to work,
Post by: Chris on November 24, 2003, 10:10:54 PM
Well there is this program that someone wrote that can keep track of what dvds you own and such. I find it pretty handy, but I can't seem to get it to work on the SME server....anyone have any ideas?

I setup a user and database in mysql and run through the php setup of the program itself but when i finish the setup just restarts. I am still a neebie to working with different parts of the SME server but i learn quick. Any info would be great!

Here is the website for mydvds

Well no error that ive found, just that in setting up the program you walk through the setup via a php page, and then you click complete and it reverts back to resetting up all over again as if its a new install. Ive checked my db name, db user, db password and cant seem to find what i am missing..........

Sounds like you are installing PHPmyadmin and haven't deleted the install directory afterwards. Is this so?

Check that you have enabled write permissions for the /etc/conf.php file.

I'd wait awhile thoguh it's rather buggy. The demo at the homepage does not even work properly.

Well the program looks cool anyways, just thought it would be nice to have.

Hi,
I have been working with Rich West, the writter of MyDVDs,
The current beta version is 2.6b5 and this has solved the problems I was having.
I now have myDVDs running on my SME 5.5 machine, and I am very happy.

Also I would like to say if you have problems with it, email Rich directly, his addy is in the Doc with the myDVDs package,
I found Rich more than helpfull, and have solved the likes of the repeating setup screens.. (Yes I was experiencing that !!)
