Title: FormMail
Post by: John on November 25, 2003, 03:00:24 AM
Hi I am newbee to all this and would like to run the latest version of formail on my SME5.5 webserver. Any advice on installing and configuring it would be appreciated.

I would advise against running FormMail due to security concerns.  The product has a history of exploitation by spammers.

And I would go for phpformmail instead: www.boaddrink.com/projects/phpformmail

Maybe I was unlucky with php but I wanted a form that could send large attachments and I couldn't seem to get over two meg attachments to go with other form mail systems but manage to move 30 meg attachments with the following at

http://soupermail.sourceforge.net/

I found it better to limit to one attachment.
Also had difficulties from ibay but worked from main.

Not the OP says "formail" not "formmail"...

man formail
[snip]
DESCRIPTION
formail is a filter that can be used to  force  mail  into  mailbox  format,
perform From ' escaping, generate auto-replying headers, do simple
header  munging/extracting  or split  up  a mailbox/digest/articles file.
The mail/mailbox/article contents will be expected on stdin.

This isn't the same as formmail, maybe the OP needs to tell us which he really meant.  B-)

Cheers
Dave.
